Leeds United – Manchester City predictions & odds comparison 28.12.2022

Manchester City will be looking to reduce the deficit atop the table from league leaders Arsenal when they travel to take on Leeds United at Elland Road.

The defending champions are staring at an eight-point gap right now after the Gunners won their Boxing Day derby at home against West Ham.  Leeds meantime are not sitting pretty as they are 15th on the log, just 2 points away from the drop zone.

This should be an interesting encounter with the potential for loads of goals. Our Premier League betting tips for this clash will be picked from Melbet (👉 really good Melbet bonus rules) and Worldsportbetting.

LEEDS UNITED

A 4-3 loss to Tottenham just before the World Cup hiatus left a bitter taste in the mouths of Lees hopefuls as they led thrice in that game and were on course for a win before eventually succumbing to a Bentacur double in the final 10 minutes of the match. That has been symptomatic of their season as they have pulled off incredible wins and disappointing losses.

They are in high spirits nevertheless after winning 2 of their 3 warm-up friendlies coming into this match. Manager Jesse march will try and rally his troops to finish the second half of the season strong lest they get sucked into relegation woes. A bad week for them coupled with a good week for others around them could actually see them drop down below the dreaded dotted line on the log.

Their attack has been quite decent as they have scored in 7 of their last 8 matches. Their biggest issue has been on the other end of the floor where they have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 straight matches and kept a clean sheet in just 2 of their last 19 home matches. This does not augur well against the visitors attacking juggernaut.

MANCHESTER CITY

Like the hosts, City also went into the World Cup break nursing wounds as they suffered a shock 2-1 loss to Brentford which basically allowed Arsenal to open up a 5-point cushion at the top going into that break that they then extended to 8 points on Boxing Day. City are actually third with Newcastle leapfrogging them after they too won on Boxing Day.

Pep Guardiola’s charges returned to action last week as they took on Liverpool in a scintillating EFL Cup fourth-round fixture which they just about edged 3-2 to book a place in the quarterfinals. Goals from Haaland, Mahrez and Nathan Ake overcome the Liverpool resistance who had fought back through Carvalho and Salah.

Man City now have their work cut out as they cannot afford any further slippage with Arsenal showing no signs of slowing down. They dominated Leeds last season with 7-0 and 4-0 scorelines at home and away and we expect pretty much the same level of ruthlessness from them here.

LEEDS VS MAN CITY PREDICTIONS

Man City looked quite spry against Liverpool last week with their contingent of international stars seemingly sharped and revitalized for the task at hand. With Arsenal having thrown a gauntlet at them, we pretty much expect City to respond in kind with a statement win here. They have been quite solid on their travels and the key to that is usually a strong start. We fancy them to take charge right from the get-go and we are backing them to win at halftime and fulltime @ 1.67 with Worldsportsbetting as the first of our betting tips today.

TIP #1: Halftime/Fulltime –> 2/2

Leeds’ defence has left a lot to be desired and that is fodder for City’s mercurial striker Erling Haaland who incidentally was born in Leeds. He took just 10 minutes to show his appetite for goals hasn’t faded against Liverpool last week. There will be no sentimental feeling for his former hometown here as the Norwegian cyborg continues his amazing start to life in the Premier League. Melbet app have him priced @ 1.50 to bag a goal anytime and we are going with this as our final tip here.

TIP #2: Haaland Goal
