The Manchester derby will headline this weekend’s Premier League action as Man City plays hosts to their neighbours Manchester United at the Etihad this Sunday.
The hosts are locked in a fierce title race with Liverpool at the tip of the table while United are barely trying to hang on to a top-four race that is increasingly looking bleak for them.
Our Premier League betting tips in this preview will be sourced from Melbet and Betpesa.
MANCHESTER CITY
Man City’s once seemingly unassailable lead at the top of the table has steadily been wiped out in recent weeks and the Premier League title race that seemed like a foregone conclusion is now very much in play thanks to Liverpool mounting a fierce comeback.
The Citizens were lucky to pick up a close win at Everton in their last league match as VAR inexplicably denied Everton a clear penalty after Rodri handled the ball in box late in the game. They followed this up with a more comfortable 2-0 midweek win over lower league outfit Peterborough in the 5th round of the FA Cup.
Pep Guardiola will be looking for his side to erase the memories of their home loss to Tottenham which certainly showed some chinks in their armour. They dominated the reverse game and certainly have what it takes to replicate that performance here.
MANCHESTER UNITED
Man United have flattered to deceive for the better part of the season. Their early-season struggles led to the firing of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and his replacement Ralf Rangnick has tried to steer the ship to relative safety but there is little evidence to show any significant upgrade.
The Red Devils are hanging onto 4th place but the skins of their teeth, level on points with West Ham with Arsenal lurking around in the vicinity, down just two points and significantly with three games in hand. They have had some less than stellar performances in recent weeks, drawing with both Burnley and Watford who are at the rock bottom of the table, which has significantly dented their chances of finishing in the top four.
Rangnick’s men have been relatively solid on their travels lately. They have yet to lose a game on the road since the 4-1 thrashing at Vicarage Road back in November (5W, 5D). They are also no strangers to causing upsets at the Etihad, having won in four of their last five visits here.

MAN CITY VS MAN UNITED PREDICTIONS
This is a significant game for both teams. City are trying to fend off Liverpool’s surge while United are also dealing with the chasing pack in the race for the 4th and final champions league slot on the table. Being a derby, fireworks are to be expected. There is no love lost between the two rivals. Three of their last 4 meetings at this venue have produced at least 4 bookings. Given the stakes at play, we feel there is value in backing a repeat of the same here @ 1.35 with Betmoto as our the first of our football predictions today.
As is customary, Man City will have the lion’s share of possession here with United likely to opt for a smash and grab approach, which they have surprisingly had some success with against the hosts. With the exception of the Spurs loss, City have completely obliterated all and sundry at this venue. This domination has been characterized by a lot of corners going their way and we expect the trend to hold here. We are therefore picking Man City to get at least 7 corners @ 1.44 with Melbet Bonus as our final tip.
