Despite a sluggish start to the Serie A campaign, Lazio have over the recent weeks managed to string together a steady run of good performances capped by their 1-0 win over Sampdoria on Saturday which moved them side into the top four in the league.

In the Champions League, they did well to progress from a fairly balanced group that had Dortmund, Club Brugge and Zenit St Petersburg.
