Algeria – Nigeria predictions & odds comparison 27.09.2022

After the gut wrenching feeling of missing out on a World Cup ticket, Algeria and Nigeria are looking to put themselves in shape for the AFCON qualifiers.

As they try to pick up the pieces and rejig their performances, both sides will lock horns in Tuesday’s international friendly. For the Super Eagles, it’s an opportunity to get all 3 points against the desert foxes for the first since 2016.

On the other hand, the Algerians will look to inflict another defeat on Nigeria and continue their better head to head record against the West Africans.

Despite their recent struggles, Algeria and Nigeria are still powerhouses when it comes to African football and we expect this to be an interesting tie between them. To help you have an insight into what to expect from a punter’s perspective, we will be curating our preview with odds from Frapapa and Wazobet. Meanwhile, check out our Frapapa bet review or you can find out how to grab the 110% Wazobet Bonus.

ALGERIA

Their failure to pick up a ticket to Qatar came on the back of a 2-2 aggregate draw against Cameroon with the indomitable lions qualifying on away goal rule.

Since then, Djamal Belmadi’s side have returned to winning ways, earning back to back wins in their AFCON qualifiers against over Uganda and Tanzania. With this, Algeria sit top of Group F, 6 points from 2 games.

Although this is not a competitive game, the North Africans will be looking to make the most of it as they continue to rebuild and get in shape before the final part of next year’s AFCON qualifiers.

NIGERIA

Following their failure to qualify for this year’s World Cup, the Super Eagles parted ways with Austin Eguavoen leading to the emergence of new gaffer Jose Peseiro.

With his appointment, the Eagles are looking to rebuild one step at a time and reinvent themselves as a force to reckon with in African football. In fact, Peseiro has already set a target for himself indicating his intention is to not only qualify for next year’s AFCON, but also win the tournament.

To bring that target into fruition, the Eagles will be taking every game seriously in their rebuilding process.
Like Algeria, the Eagles have also earned 2 wins in their last 2 AFCON qualifiers seeing off Sierra Leone 2-1 on June 9 before thumping Sao Tome 10-0 four days later.

They head into this tie on the back of a 2-2 against Algerian home based side who are currently getting set for the CHAN tournament in Morocco.

OUR PREVIEW AND BETTING PREDICTIONS FOR ALGERIA Vs NIGERIA

Algeria and Nigeria are seeking to restore smile on the faces of their fans having disappointed them by failing to join the train to Qatar. To be in good shape ahead of the next round of competitive fixtures, both sides will be looking to put up a stern performance here.

Going by how 3 of their last 4 games ended, we are anticipating an entertaining tie with at least 3 goals scored.

Meanwhile, looking at recent games, Peseiro’s men look a bit better than what they were under the previous manager, playing in a more organized and tactical way. Despite this, the Eagles face a daunting task here as they look for a first win against the North Africans since a 3-1 victory back in 2016.

Looking at how formidable North African sides are especially on home front, we expect the Eagles to face a daunting task here. To this end, we are backing Algeria to win or draw with over 2.5 goals.
