Holders Bayern have dominated this competition just like they have the Bundesliga itself, reaching the final six times in the last eight seasons. Of their seven straight titles, four have been accompanied by this cup. With Bayer Leverkusen and fourth-tier Saarbrucken on the other side of the semifinal ties, it is easy to see why they are overwhelming favourites to win a second successive cup double.

Hans Flick’s side are a heartbeat away from winning the league title and they look unstoppable right now. They have won all five games they have played since the resumption to make it 19 wins from their last 20 competitive games. Last weekend’s 4-2 away win at fifth-placed Bayer Leverkusen means they only need two more wins from their remaining 4 game to clinch their eighth Bundesliga crown on the trot.
