Betting tips & odds comparison 22.08.2022 Manchester United FC – Liverpool FC

Gameweek 3 in the Premier League will see the clash between Manchester United and Liverpool FC at Old Trafford. Kick-off time is at 9:00 PM on Aug 22, 2022. In our preview of Manchester United vs. Liverpool FC we will provide you with all the important facts and stats for this Premier League fixture. Let’s start by having a look at the current form of the two teams involved.

The pick of the Matchday 3 fixtures was saved for last as Manchester United welcome old foes Liverpool on Monday night at Old Trafford.

United are currently bottom of the Premier League table, having lost both of their opening two league games to Brighton and Brentford. Liverpool aren’t that much better themselves with two draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace leaving them in 12th place on the log.

For our Premier League betting tips in this preview, we will explore Frapapa and Worldsportsbetting betting options and prices.

MANCHESTER UNITED

Erik ten Hag understood the magnitude of the task ahead when he took up the United job in the summer. The reality is unfolding right before his own eyes as the Red Devils slumped to two defeats to Brighton and Brentford in their opening two games for the 2022/23 EPL season which has them rooted at rock bottom.

The 2-1 loss to Brighton at Old Trafford on opening day certainly caused some jitters. That 4-0 thrashing at Brentford last weekend, with all 4 goals coming in the opening half certainly turned on the alarms. Ten Hag certainly understands the pressure that will be coming his way should they capitulate here against the Reds.

United have been relatively modest in this transfer window but news of the signing of Casemiro was a bit of a relief given how dire they have needed a defensive cover in their midfield. The club is also rumoured to be working on a couple more signings before the end of the transfer window. The task at hand however is to try and steady the ship as they battle the raging storms.

LIVERPOOL

Having gone toe-to-toe with Man City in last season’s Premier League title race, expectations were always going to be high on Liverpool coming into this season. They underlined their intent with a comprehensive 3-1 win over Man City in the curtain-raising Community Shield. However, they have been lacklustre at best as the rubber met the road with back-to-back draws against Fulham and Crystal Palace in their opening league games.

Whilst it may be difficult to pick lots of positives from these two results, Klopp was certainly encouraged with the manner in which they battled back against Palace last time out to pick up the point. Darwin Nunez had picked up a straight red card early in the second half and despite conceding a goal thereafter, their 10-men battled hard and forced a 2-2 draw.

The Reds lost dependable forward Sadio Mane to Bayern this summer and they brought in Nunez, Fabio Carvalho and Calvin Ramsay. They still have the veteran players like Salah and on their day, they can still run teams ragged.

MAN UNITED VS LIVERPOOL PREDICTIONS

Unsurprisingly, Liverpool are heavy favourites coming into this match. However, they haven’t quite lit up the place as expected. Man United have been taken to the cleaners by nondescript teams. That has been the trend for some time now. They really struggle against the smaller teams but on some occasions, they do turn up against the big boys. The Red Devils have had enough time to prepare for this clash and we expect them to have a much better start to the match than they did last time out. We expect a closely fought opening half of this game and with the vociferous home crowd behind them, we fancy United to sail through the half unscathed. As such we are backing United/Draw in the 1st Half @ 1.69 with Worldsportsbetting review for our opening tip.

As is customary in these high-level matches, tension is going to be pretty high. Both teams badly need a win here to deflect some of the pressure they have found themselves under at this early juncture. Tackles are therefore likely to fly all around with some cynical ones to boot. Games with such heightened physicality often result in multiple players getting into the referee’s little book. Over 4.5 Bookings is priced at 1.91 at Frapapa Nigeria and we feel there is value here as our final call.
