PORTUGAL

Portugal demonstrated the strength of their current squad after demolishing Czech Republic away and sealing their first away win of the season. This puts them in pole position to qualify for the UEFA Nations League Finals and only need a draw against Spain to do so.

Their young players in Rafael Leão, Diego Dalot and Vitinha have added a fresh impetuous to a team that has seasoned veterans like Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Bernardo Silva. Other English Premier League stars Diego Jota, Joao Cancelo and Ruben Neves will also hope to make a mark against Spain.

With Silva, Neves, Leão and Fernandes all set to feature against Spain, they should be able to create ample clear cut goal scoring opportunities and finish them. Ronaldo scored a brace the last time they played at home and will be buoyed for this one.

Portugal have been extremely prolific at home scoring 11 goals in their 4 home matches in this calendar year and after recently scoring 4 away in Prague, they will be boasted for this match.

SPAIN

Spain have a do or die situation from the perspective of qualifying for the Nations League Finals. They need all three points to qualify and any other result will see them finish second in the group.

Luis Enrique was brought in as Spain National team manager in order for the team to play a more natural flowing game but without a world class number 9, they have suffered in front of the goal.

Spain’s situation got worsened by their 1-2 loss at home to Switzerland last week, their first home defeat in 11 months. Alvaro Morata hasn’t been able to find his goal scoring touch for Spain and this has led to them not being able to outscore their opponents.

Spain have had a good away record in their recent past and will take that as a positive when they travel to Braga. They haven’t lost an away match in the past 12 months.
