Sevilla and Barcelona who both harbor La Liga title ambitions will face off in Sevilla this Saturday. The two sides currently sit fourth and third respectively and have seen the gap to Atletico Madrid narrow in recent weeks.

This will be the second meeting between them this month having played in this same venue in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final, which Sevilla won 2-0.

SEVILLA

Julen Lopetegui has done an excellent job with this Sevilla team since taking over. They are the reigning Europa League league champions and they have slowly but steadily crept into La Liga title contention in recent weeks. A run of 6 straight La Liga wins has them sitting in 4th place in the league, just seven points adrift of the league leaders Atletico Madrid.

Their Champions League loss at Borussia Dortmund is the only blot on their otherwise impressive record of 10 wins in their last 11 competitive outings across the board. They did bounce back from that loss almost immediately with a clinical 2-0 win at Osasuna on Monday.

The Andalusians have a rock-solid defence at home which has been a key catalyst in their impressive performances this season. They have won the last five at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, including the win over their visitors in the Cup. They will be confident they can do it again and pick all three valuable points on offer here.

BARCELONA

That loss to Sevilla in the Copa Del Rey appears to have rattled Barcelona a little bit with the Catalans winning just two of their next four games. They were thrashed 4-1 in the Champions League by a rampant PSG side at the Nou Camp, followed by a draw at Cadiz which rang alarm bells that Koeman had somehow managed to shut off after taking the team on a brilliant run particularly to start this year.

They did bounce back in the midweek game against Elche, looking more like themselves as they picked up a routine 3-0 win that saw Lionel Messi grabbing a second-half brace that set them off to a terrific victory with Jordi Alba adding a third late on.

Barcelona have had a turbulent campaign on and off the pitch which has affected their usual level of play. That said, they are still in the title race after Atletico blew the door wide open and they will be looking to gain even more with a win here.
