Following the utter rout by a struggling Sheffield team in their last match, Jose Mourinho will be looking for a response when Tottenham host Everton on Monday night in North London.
After a rather positive return to football, Tottenham suffered a huge setback after losing 3-1 away at Sheffield to drop to ninth in the Premier League, with Everton now just one point behind in 11th. They will feel hard done but some VAR decisions from that game but there is no denying that their inconsistency been a recurring theme all season long.
Going back to before the resumption, Spurs have just won one game in all competitions which is a far cry from the expectations of a club of their stature.
They can take heart at the fact that they have played relatively well at home this season compared to their travels.
Everton have improved greatly under Carlo Ancelotti – even more so after the resumption with 2 wins and a draw in the three games they have played following the long hiatus.
The gap between them and 6th place Wolves is only 8 points. With 5 games still to play, and with a relatively easier fixture than some of the teams above them, Everton will certainly feel they can make a late push for the Europa places.
A win here will see them leapfrog Spurs, but that is by no chance an easy feat to attain.

Spurs have been inconsistent all through the year and calling their games one way or the other has been an exercise in futility. Expectations were high when Jose Mourinho was brought on board. However, the inconsistency has persisted and a string of bizarre injuries to their key players only worsened the situation. That partly explains why they have only won one of their last nine matches. Their problems mostly seem to be at the back. Everton will have a go at them no doubt. In Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison they have forwards that are certainly capable of causing them problems at the back. Spurs play very well at home though. That should give us a great spectacle and we are going with Both Teams to score @ 1.80 as our initial betting tip for this game.
Everton, have looked pretty good since the Premier League returned last month. They neutralized Liverpool in the first game back. They almost nicked it at the end actually. Then they beat Norway away from home and got three more valuable points against 3rd placed Leicester in a 2-1 Win last week. They are certainly more than capable of getting something out of this. With Europa places beckoning should other results favor them for the remainder of the season, we fancy them to come out here and match Spurs toe to toe. 1xBet betting app’s Double Chance Everton or Draw price of 1.87 looks tantalizingly tempting and we are snapping it up as our final betting tip for this game.
