Tottenham vs Liverpool, EPL 28.01.2021

Despite looking like title contenders in the early part of the season, Tottenham and Liverpool find themselves at the back of the line as they prepare to battle on Thursday evening.

These two English giants set the early pace but an awful run of form in the last few weeks has seen both of them slip outside the top four.

TOTTENHAM

Monday’s 4-1 win over lower division side Wycombe means that Spurs have now won five of their last six matches across all competitions – scoring 18 goals and conceding just three in that run.

In the league though, Spurs have only managed to take maximum points from two of their last seven outings to sit fifth in the table – one behind fifth-placed Liverpool and eight behind leaders Manchester City – who have both played a game more.

Nevertheless, Mourinho will be happy with his side’s eight-game unbeaten streak and will fancy their chance to end a 6 game losing streak to the champions given their form at the moment.

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool’s goal drought in their recent outing has put their title defence in serious jeopardy. After going top of the table, they have suffered an alarming loss of form after Christmas. They dropped points against West Brom and then failed to find the back of the net in four straight league games.

These woeful results has seen them drop down to fifth on the table after West Ham’s recent resurgent run saw them rising up to occupy the coveted 4th slot. The Reds attacking trio of Salah, Mane, and Firminho that terrorized the league the last couple of years have found the going tough.

Klopp can draw some encouragement with their display in the 3-2 losing effort against Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round last weekend.

TOTTENHAM VS LIVERPOOL BETTING PREDICTIONS

This is a huge game for both of these teams. The status quo at the top of the league is changing to their detriment and they both need to correct their problems quickly enough before they find themselves in a deeper hole than they are in at the moment. Liverpool looked like themselves for long stretches of their FA Cup match against United and they will certainly look to pick up from the positives from that game. Spurs though have looked quite solid in recent games as they try to find their way back into the top four. We anticipate a tight encounter here especially to start the game off. We expect things to open up in the latter stages of the game as either side will be keen to get a win. Most Goals Second Half @ 1.97 with Betway looks good for our first betting tip here.

Mourinho might very well opt for his trademark approach to big games. Sitting back and hitting on the counter. He has perfected this art and has the personnel to execute it on this Spurs squad. While the Reds striking force has gone cold, Tottenham’s hasn’t. Harry Kane and Son have been in incredible form and we fancy them to take advantage of Liverpool’s makeshift defense and we are picking Tottenham or draw @ 1.69 with Betway betting app as our last tip.
