The battle for top 4 places in the EPL hits a crescendo on Friday night as Tottenham host Manchester United with both teams looking to bolster their Champions League hopes.
The hiatus came at just about the right time for Spurs. They who had gone six games in all competitions without a win which led to elimination from the Champions League and FA Cup. Picking just a point from a possible nine in the Premier League in that span dented their top-four hopes as they slipped to eighth, seven points behind fourth-placed Chelsea.
These disappointing results can easily be explained by the loss of captain and leading marksman Harry Kane and forward Son to injury. The break has enabled them to heal and coach Jose Mourinho announced that they will both be inserted back to the starting lineup.
Manchester United were on a roll before the season was paused. They were on an 11-game unbeaten run, scoring 29 goals and conceding just two in the process, a run that took them to the last eight in the FA Cup and Europa League and brought them within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea.
Fernandes has been the key to their turnaround. United too have benefitted from the break and Solskjaer has a nearly fully fit squad to choose from with Rashford and Pogba seemingly fit and back to training.
Both of these teams have benefited from the break as they have nursed injuries to their key players who are now expected to play. With all the stars back, and so much to play for, the game should provide a great spectacle. Both teams have top drawer forwards and we expect goal-scoring opportunities to be plenty for either side. We are therefore going with Both Teams to Score @ 1.70 as our initial betting tip for this game.
Having said that, on the balance of play, the form and quality of the two teams, it appears that the Man United midfield is slightly better. Fernandes has been an inspiration for United and if, and that’s a big if, Pogba plays here, then it is certainly a decisive advantage for United. Either way, we are backing United to Win or Draw @ 1.40 as our second betting tip for the game.
Marcus Rashford is having a terrific season for United and he will be fit for the resumption following a stress fracture of the back before the break. The 22-year-old will be itching to pick up from where he left. He has scored 14 goals in 22 league games for United. He seems to relish playing the Spurs scoring 3 goals in his last two games against them which includes both goals in the 2-1 United win in the reverse fixture earlier in the season. Bwin betting app have him scoring at anytime @ 2.40 we quite fancy this as our final betting tip.
