Bayer Leverkusen vs Eintracht Frankfurt, DFB-Pokal 12.01.21

Bayer Leverkusen will host Eintracht Frankfurt on Tuesday evening in the second round of the DFB-Pokal. These teams met just over a week ago in the league and Frankfurt pipped Leverkusen 2-1.

Read on to get our betting tips for this game.

After a slow start to this 2020/21 Bundesliga campaign, Leverkusen came to life and they put up an impressive streak that had them leading the league by mid-December. They also had a good run on the Europa League and have qualified for the last-32.

A 2-1 defeat to Bayern Munich saw them not only lose the top spot by the end of the year, it also seemingly disoriented them mentally as they have since failed to win any of the two games after the loss, first losing to the visitors 2-1 at the start of the year and drawing 1-1 with lowly Werder Bremen, despite dominating from start to finish.

Leverkusen have been quite good in this competition though, making the knockout stages in five of the last seven seasons, including last season when they made the finals where they lost to Bayern Munich.

Although they beat Leverkusen to start the year, Eintracht have had a relatively slow start to the Bundesliga campaign, drawing far too many games, leaving them chasing for scraps in mid-table. They, however, have managed to pull an impressive three-game winning streak which is a welcome relief after they failed to win any of the previous nine games.

Andre Silva who scored both goals in the 2-0 win over Mainz on their last outing at the weekend has been one of their bright spots for this season. His goals have been crucial as they try to move up the table and they will be relying on him to lead the lines here.

They had to work hard to secure this second-round slot with a 2-1 win over third-tier side, 1860 Munich. However, that recent win over Leverkusen will instil a bit of confidence in the team coming into this rematch.

Cup games usually provide a fantastic spectacle for teams to momentarily forget their league challenges and we can expect an exciting encounter here. Leverkusen will be looking not only to turn their recent poor form but also to avenge the loss to Frankfurt at the start of the year. Eintracht have looked good in their recent games and they will be looking to build on them to kickstart their season that looked dead in the water. We expect an end-to-end encounter and we fancy both teams to score @ 1.51 with 22Bet for our first tip here.

Andre Silva has been the knight in shining armor for the Eagles this season. The Portuguese forward has had an impressive season thus far scoring 11 goals in 14 league appearances for Frankfurt. Only Bayern’s Robert Lewandowski has scored more in the Bundesliga. He opened the scoring against 1860 Munich and will be leading the lines here for Frankfurt. He is also Frankfurt’s designated penalty taker. We feel there is value in backing him to score anytime @ 2.79 with 22Bet bookie review as our final tip for this game.
