Dortmund

Dortmund have been one of the top scoring teams across Europe this season. They have scored 24 goals in their last six games. They are currently lying third in the Bundesliga, which just over halfway into the season has been as competitive it has been in years. The top 5 sides are separated by just 6 points.

Dortmund have in recent years been very successful in developing youngsters into superstars and this season has been no exception. A little over two years, since Jadon Sancho made his first start for Borussia Dortmund, the 19-year-old has blossomed into one of the finest attacking midfielders in Europe drawing considerable interest from a lot of the other top clubs.

Dortmund also signed highly rated striker Erling Braut Haaland and barely a month after this signing, his imperious goal scoring form continued unabated justifying the $22 Million Dortmund paid for him in impressive fashion. After scoring 28 goals in 22 games for Austrian side Salzburg (including 8 goals in the group stage of the Champions League) he has quickly picked up with Dortmund where he left off in Austria and has been scoring goals for fun in the Bundesliga. The Norwegian striker has scored nine goals in his first six games, including a beautiful 20-minute hat-trick on his debut. He is the first player to score eight goals in his first five Bundesliga appearances.

Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho who both scored in Dortmund 4-0 win over Frankfurt over the weekend will relish the opportunity to have a go at a PSG defence that has shown some cracks particularly over the last few games. <//p>

Dortmund themselves have defensive issues of their own. They have been exposed by average Bundesliga sides and there is little to suggest they can shut out the attacking threat posed by one of this season’s favorites to win the trophy.

PSG

PSG have in recent years emerged as one of the top teams in Europe. After three successive years of failing to get past the hurdle of a knockout tie in the Champions League, they have set their sights on making a deep run in this season’s campaign. They have a terrific balance on the team and will be counting on their star players – forwards Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to turn the tide of their recent failures in Europe and deliver them to the promised land.

Both players were rested in Saturday’s disappointing 4-4 draw away at struggling Amiens. Midfielder Marco Verratti and centre-half Maruinhos came on in the second half of that game to steady the ship and made an instant impact as they rallied to lead 4-3, coming from 3-0 down, before eventually conceding an injury time equalizer against a team that is rooted near the bottom of the table.

Coach Thomas Tuchel insists that there is nothing to worry about following their recent defensive struggles. But the evidence on the pitch suggests otherwise. Captain Thiago Silva, at 35 years old, has evidently lost a step or two and has looked static when balls are played behind him. His reading of the game is still excellent but his lack of pace has been one of their undoing on the defensive end.

Injuries have also been a major concern for PSG. Neymar has missed the last 4 games due to a bruised rib but is set to make a return after taking part in team practices over the last week or so. Questions are still abound regarding his fitness for the game following this prolonged absence. Whilst injuries have dogged him in his 3 years at PSG, there have also been questions about his attitude and a lack of success at Europe’s biggest stage. What is not in doubt however is his talent and ability to reach the heights that talent has so long promised. His record of 12 goals and 7 assists in the fixtures he has played attests to this. His counterpart Mbappe and coach Tuchel have on the other hand been at loggerheads in recent times over what Mbappe felt to be a lack of proper respect from the coach. He has shown discontent at being subbed off in some of PSG’s recent outings. They have nevertheless seemingly buried the hatchet and the coach has stated that they are now focused on delivering on the task at hand – moving on to the next stage of Europe’s elite competition.

They will probably win the league and a domestic treble to boot. But it is the Champions League that has been their biggest waterloo and there has never been a better time to cash in on the windfall than now.

BVB vs PSG Betting Tips and Predictions

This will be the first meeting between Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain since a goalless Europa League draw in November 2010. Both teams have a wealth of attacking talent but also have defensive frailties. They have both been scoring loads of goals in their respective leagues. They both like playing in spaces which means we are likely to have an open game with lots of chances to score. On current form and depth of the teams available, we expect an entertaining game on Tuesday that should see BOTH teams scoring.

Our betting tips for the game are therefore: Total Corners Over 9.5 @ 1.56, Goals Over 3.5 @ 1.97 and BTTS @1.40. You can find these odds and many other betting options at 22bet.
