Borussia Dortmund vs Sevilla, UCL 09.3.2021

Borussia Dortmund will be looking to punch their ticket to the quarter-finals of the Champions League when they welcome Sevilla in the second leg of their last-16 tie on Tuesday night.

The first leg was explosive but the tie is delicately balanced with both teams in with a chance of coming out of it. Melbet Welcome Bonus offers terrific prices for our tips here.

The German giants are carrying a 3-2 advantage from the first leg in Seville thanks to a breathtaking attacking show after they had fallen behind 1-0 after just seven minutes. Mahmoud Dahoud scored a stunning equalizer before Erling Haaland continued his terrific output for Dortmund with a first-half brace that gave them a 3-1 advantage. Sevilla kept battling though and kept the tie alive with a Luke de Jong effort in the second half.

Dortmund have struggled in the domestic league this season but this win seems to have spurred them to life as they went on to record three more convincing wins in their domestic league games and the German Cup before being brought down to earth in a 4-2 loss to Bayern at the weekend.

A draw or a low-scoring one-goal loss would be enough for them but they are just not built like this. We can expect another action-packed game.

Sevilla were on an eight-game winning streak coming into the first leg of this tie. They however had no answer to Dortmund’s first-half blitzkrieg as Haaland and Jadon caused their backline all sorts of problems to take control on the night and of the tie.

Los Rojiblancos bounced back from this with a 2-0 win at Osasuna but they have since failed to rediscover their magic, losing twice to Barcelona in La Liga and Copa del Rey before going down 2-1 at Elche on Saturday.

Despite these setbacks, Julen Lopetegui’s side are still very much in this tie. Their second goal in that first leg means the hosts cannot rest on their laurels.

Despite their woeful form, Sevilla are more than capable of turning this tie around. They have a bunch of wily, battle-hardened players that are well suited for the bright lights of a big European stage. The core group that led the team to Europa League success last season, which was a record sixth triumph in that competition, is still very much intact. Dortmund, as they showed at the weekend, can wilt under pressure. The Andalusians will certainly leave everything on the line and we fancy them to win or draw this game @ 1.69 as our first betting tip today.

Like we called it in the first leg here, we are backing both teams to find the back of the net again. Dortmund, despite their advantage from the first leg, are not known as one of those teams to pack the bus. They will remain true to their principles and go out looking to score. Sevilla have no option but to try and get back into the tie at the earliest opportunity. We, therefore, expect an attacking spectacle and with the quality of talent on both attacks, we should see both teams scoring here which has a decent price of 1.52.
