Brentford FC – Manchester City betting tip & odds comparison 05.02.2024

Having been the only team to do a double over champions Manchester City last season, Brentford will be looking to rekindle that magic when they welcome the Citizens to their Gtech Community Stadium in Monday night’s only Premier League fixture.

Man City on their part will be salivating at the chance to move within a point of leaders Liverpool but with a win and still with a game in hand. They have been in imperious form and with De Bruyne back in the fold, there is an aura of invincibility that is starting to build around them.

This should be an interesting match here that could be laden with goals. We will explore Bet365 and Betwinner prices for our Premier League betting tips for this match

BRENTFORD

Despite Neal Maupay’s best efforts to rile up the Tottenham crowd and players by mimicking James Maddison’s darts celebration after his 15th-minute opener, Brentford went home empty-handed after losing that North London derby 3-2 to Spurs. The defeat was a harsh reality check for the Bees who are still dangling precariously at the wrong end of the table, in 15th place, just three points clear of the danger zone.

Thomas Frank’s charges have endured a horrible spell of winter form has seen the Bees pick up just one win in their last nine fixtures across all competitions.

The return of Ivan Toney has been a positive for them and he has shown no signs of rust scoring in both games he has featured in since his return. This is a tough test for them and they will need to be at their utmost best against the juggernaut from Manchester that is clicking on all cylinders right now.

MANCHESTER CITY

Defending champions Manchester City have seemingly upped the stakes in their push to defend the title. A casual 3-1 midweek win over Vincent Kompany’s Burnley was their eighth. With Liverpool’s loss to Arsenal on Sunday, it means they are now just 4 points adrift but with 2 games in hand. A brace from birthday boy Julian Alvarez and a fantastic Rodri curler put them in full control against Burnley before Ameen Al-Dakhil gave the away end some crumbs to chew on.

Unlike the last couple of seasons where Guardiola’s side was absolutely dominant at home and on the road, there have been some chinks in their armor this season, particularly so on their travels. All three of their losses in the Premier League this season have come away from the Etihad. They will be looking to correct that here, a venue where they lost 1-0 last season too.

City have also been boosted by the return of Kevin De Bruyne and he has wasted no time to remind the world of what they have missed in his prolonged absence with a couple of assists and a goal to his name in just his two matches since his return. They will continue to count on him here.

BRENTFORD VS MANCHESTER CITY PREDICTION

With just one clean sheet in their last 11 Premier League matches, City’s defence has fallen off a cliff this season. Their attack is however still top-notch, even with the absence of talisman Haaland, striking at least two goals in their last 6 straight league games. We expect an open-ended game here with both teams having a go at each other. 9 of Brentford’s last 10 matches including the last 4 straight games at this venue have had at least 3 goals. We are therefore rolling with Over 2.5 Goals @ 1.48 with Bet365 bonus as our opening Brentford vs  Manchester City prediction for this match.

With City expected to field a nearly fully-fit squad and in particular with the return of De Bruyne to the first team, normal service is starting to resume for them. They will dominate possession as per usual and will create a ton of opportunities. They have generally been bossing the corners categories against their opponents. The Citizens have averaged 7.05 corners per Premier League match this season – the second-most in the competition. We are backing this trend to maintain in this match and are picking City to get at least 7 corners in this match @ 1.78 with Betwinner app as our final pick for this match.
