England vs Poland, UEFA World Cup Qualifier 31.03.2021

England’s first real test in World Cup Qualifying Group I comes up on Wednesday evening when they host Poland for their matchday three clash at Wembley Stadium.

Both teams cruised to comfortable victories at the weekend but this should be a different ball game altogether.

We will take a look at Fezbet Welcome Bonus prices for our betting tips for this game.

ENGLAND

England maintained their excellent start to the qualifiers with a routine 2-0 win over Albania to follow up their 5-0 drubbing of San Marino in the opening game. They remain the only team in the competition to take six points from a possible six as big names stumbled across all the groups in the opening two matches.

The ever-reliable Harry Kane headed home from Luke Shaw’s cross in the 38th minute before laying the table for Mason Mount to double the advantage in the second half as to maintain the Three Lions’ perfect start to proceedings in Group I.

They were very much expected to steamroll through those two games but the England defence can expect a much test against their main challengers in the group here, even in the absence of the injured Lewandowski.

POLAND

Lewandowski’s brace set Poland on course for a comfortable 3-0 win over Andorra in their second match of the group as they moved to second place behind England on four points, thanks to their head-to-head away goals tally after drawing 3-3 with dark horses Hungary in their opener.

The captain struck either side of the half-time before being forced off with a knee problem which has ruled him out of this crucial clash at Wembley.

Without the services of his prolific skipper, coach Paulo Sousa may opt to keep things tight at Wembley, although he does have a few other quality forwards like Marseille striker Arkadiusz Milik and Hertha Berlin forward Krzysztof Piatek that can ask questions of the England backline.

ENGLAND VS POLAND BETTING TIPS

Although many of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers look like one-sided affairs, this is unlikely to be the case at Wembley when these two teams square off on Wednesday. We are likely to see two decent sides having a go at each other in a battle that might ultimately determine the leadership of the group. We anticipate a tight opening half with both teams not willing to cede too much ground but the game is likely to open up in the second. We are therefore going for most goal 2nd half at evens as our initial betting prediction for this game.

Lewandowski’s absence is a huge blow for Poland. We feel this alone tilts the balance in England’s favor. The Three Lions usually excel in these qualifiers particularly at home but they often come up with trumps when the bright lights of the big tournament come on. Despite the pressure of playing games in quick succession, Southgate has shown no indication of resting his big guns here. We’ll finish off our England vs Poland betting tips by taking 1.87 on the Fezbet special for a home win and under 3.5 goals in the game.
