Ghana vs Ethiopia, CAF World Cup Qualifiers, 03.09.2021
Ghana welcome Ethiopia as they kick off the second round of their World Cup Qualifying group campaigns on Friday.
The hosts are favorites to make it out of the group given their vast experience and tremendous record at this level.
Betfox Ghana is offering decent prices on this game and we will highlight a couple of them in this preview.
GHANA
Perennial African representatives at the World Cup, Ghana, missed out of the 2018 edition in Russia and they will be looking to get back to business after participating in the three consecutive world cups between 2006 and 2010 including the memorable 2010 finals run where they made it to the quarters before losing controversially to Uruguay.
Charles Akonnor’s charges will be looking to get off to a solid start against this Ethiopia team that barely squeezed into this second round of the qualifiers.
The Black Stars have blown hot and cold in recent matches but they have shown that when push comes to shove, they are still one of the best sides in Africa as they did when they topped their qualification group for next year’s African Cup of Nations.
ETHIOPIA
Ethiopia aren’t really known as a footballing powerhouse by any stretch of the imagination. However, they have shown terrific determination to get to this stage. A 1-1 draw in Lesotho saw them sailing through on away goals rule after the two nations had drawn 0-0 in the first leg in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa.
They have since shown flashes of brilliance including a 2-1 home win over giants Ivory Coast in an AFCON qualification match. They also got huge wins over Malawi and Mozambique on their way to qualifying for next’s year’s AFCON.
That said, they haven’t quite been able to replicate their home form on the road where they have struggled. This will certainly be a huge test for Wubetu Abate’s side.

GHANA VS ETHIOPIA MATCH PREVIEW AND BETTING TIPS
As outlined before, Ghana have become specialists in qualifying for the World Cup. Inasmuch as their form has dipped in recent months, they certainly elevate themselves when the moment demands. This is the opening match of the group and they will certainly be looking to put out a statement of intent. Even though they have a few big names missing, they still have enough to get the job done here and we are backing them to win at halftime and fulltime @ 1.53 at Betfox as the opening of our bet tips today.

Ghana’s defence has been quite stingy at home with 4 clean sheets in their last 6 home games. Ethiopia meantime have struggled mightily on their travels, losing their last three straight away games and shooting blanks in two of them. We expect a rather cautious approach to this game either way and we feel backing Under 3.5 goals @ 1.40 should yield returns here with Betfox bonus.
