European giants Inter Milan and Real Madrid face off in a massive Champions League Group B clash at the San Siro on Wednesday night.
For a team that made it all the way to the finals of the Europa League last season, Inter’s start to this European season has been underwhelming, to say the least. They sit rock bottom of this group with just two points from the opening three matches, with those two points coming from the draws in their two opening matches.
Domestically though, Inter aren’t doing as badly. They did look to be in peril at the weekend against Torino when the visitors went 2-0 up at the San Siro with only half an hour to play. But Inter’s big guns turned the game around as goals from Sanchez, Martinez and a brace from Lukaku ensured they snatched all three points on offer with a 4-2 win to move joint top of the table with 20 points.
Antonio Conte will need another big night from his charges to jumpstart their faltering hopes of another deep run in Europe.
Like Inter, Real Madrid’s erstwhile astute Champions League credentials have been put to a serious test this season. They find themselves in third position with 4 points from their three games in this group B that has thrown a spanner in every punter’s works.
The worrying thing for Los Bloncos faithful is they are not doing that well either in La Liga. Other than the brilliant EL Classico win, their performances in the league have been either average or downright disappointing. Their last couple of La Liga games have seen them losing 4-1 to Valencia and the 1-1 draw at home over the weekend against Unai Emery’s high-flying Villarreal.
Zinedine Zidane will be missing two critical pieces of his team for this match as captain Sergio Ramos and striker Kareem Benzema failed to make the travelling party due to injuries.
With both of these teams in need of points with the group games almost getting to the tail end, we can expect both managers to set their teams out to attack from the get-go. In their last encounter, we saw the pair trading jabs in a back-and-forth game and this is likely to be the case yet again. The absence of Real Madrid’s inspirational captain Sergio Ramos we feel is a major factor here. Inter’s forwards will certainly be licking their lips at the prospect of playing a second choice Real Madrid centre-back pairing. Goals have never really been a problem for them and we are backing Inter to score Over 1.5 goals @ 1.72 with Bwin as our first betting tip.
Whenever Inter is need of goals, there is one man they constantly turn to and he has delivered time and time again. That is none other than Romelu Lukaku. He showed his worth at the weekend with two goals to complete the 4-2 comeback against Torino. We are backing the red hot Belgian to bag his 10th of the season here by scoring anytime @ 2.10 with Bwin betting app for our final shout.
