Liverpool vs Midtjylland, UCL

Matchday 2 of UEFA Champions League sees Liverpool play host to Danish side Midtjylland in their Group D clash at Anfield on Tuesday night.

MIDTJYLLAND

The Danish club got a harsh debut in the Champions League as the high-flying Serie A outfit Atalanta put four past them without reply on matchday one. The Danes held out until the 26th minute against Atalanta but three quick-fire goals from Atalanta had them 3-0 down by half-time and although they kept it tight in the second half, they conceded one more and had nothing to offer upfront themselves.

Midtjylland almost suffered a second consecutive loss in their league match at the weekend. But like Liverpool, they too had a terrific come-from-behind win as they overcame a 2-0 deficit with half an hour, scoring three times in the last 30 minutes to pull off a 3-2 win against Brondby.

Despite that famous win over Manchester United in the 2015-16 Europa League, Midtjylland have generally struggled on their away trips in European competition, losing seven of their nine such games. Coach Brian Priske will be hoping to turn this trend around.
