PSG vs AS Monaco, Coupe de France Final, 19.05.2021

Monaco and Paris Saint-Germain will turn their attention away from the nail-biting finish to this Ligue 1 season as they lock horns in Wednesday’s Coupe de France final at the Stade de France.

PSG will be looking to retain this cup while Monaco are looking for their first win in this competition since the 1990-91 season.

This backdrop sets us up for what should be an exciting final and our preview will focus on Paripesa welcome bonus prices for our betting tips.

PSG

Despite their failures in Europe, PSG has had the French domestic competitions for years now. Well, that’s until now. They are the defending champions in this competition and in the Ligue 1 but there is a real possibility that they could yet lose both and finish the season trophyless.

They are in a fight for their lives in Ligue 1, trailing Lille by a point with the last round of matches coming up this weekend. They took full advantage of leaders Lille being held to a goalless draw at St Etienne on Sunday by whopping Reims 4-0 to give themselves a puncher’s chance, although their fate is not in their hands.

This cup, therefore, offers them a chance at redemption.

AS MONACO

Monaco looked to be in the thick of this season’s incredible title race in France’s top flight but a 3-2 loss at home to Lyon in a bad-tempered match that saw fighting extending into the tunnel after the match, ultimately put the brakes on their title ambitions and that fight is now between PSG and Lille with the two teams separated by just a point going into the last day of the season.

Overall though, it has been an impressive campaign under Niko Kovac and they could still be rewarded with long-awaited silverware should they prevail in this final.

Kovac’s charges come into this final with a bit of confidence. That loss to Lyon is the only loss they have suffered in the last 11 games having won the remaining 10 matches.

PSG coach Mauricio Pochettino is under a lot of pressure. They come into this final hobbling, as they will be without Neymar, Kimpembe, Verratti, and possibly Draxler who are either suspended or injured. They have been one of the form teams in the league and you can trust Kovac to come up with the goods at the biggest stage.
