RB Leipzig vs Borussia Dortmund, Bundesliga 09.01.21

The pick of this weekend’s Bundesliga action pits RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund locking horns on Saturday in what promises to be an intriguing clash.

Leipzig could go to the top table with a win here if Borussia Should league Bayern Munich falter at Monchengladbach on Friday night. A win for Dortmund meantime would see them cut the deficit on their hosts to just three points.

RB LEIPZIG

Whilst many pundits predicted a drop off for Leipzig following the exit of Timo Werner at the end of last season, they have pretty much maintained their position as a top-four team in the top division and are very much in the hunt for the title this season, like they were last season, sitting in second place, a couple of points behind leaders Bayern.

Key to this has been their transformation into one of the best defensive outfits in the league so far into the season, with just 9 goals conceded from their 14 matches, by far the fewest in the league. The dramatic 3-3 draw against Bayern last month was more of an exception to the rule. They have since then gone on to record four clean sheets in the next league games, winning three of them.

Julian Nagelsmann’s mix of solid defence and an efficient attack has proven to be effective for him thus far and he is likely to keep polishing it moving forward.

BORUSSIA DORTMUND

Dortmund appear to be turning on a new leaf following the dismissal of Lucien Favre as manager, with his former assistant Edin Terzic appearing to inject a new lease of life in the side.

They looked terrific in their 2-0 win against in-form Wolfsburg on Sunday, with England international Jadon Sancho finally scoring his first league goal of the season. This was a welcome relief after a rather lacklustre 2-1 loss against Union Berlin just before the winter break.

With Erling Haaland back in the team and showing no signs of the hamstring injury that kept him out of seven games on his return last week, they will be looking to get themselves back in title contention after appearing to fall off the cliff for a moment.

RB LEIPZIG VS DORTMUND BETTING PREDICTIONS

The fact that Dortmund kept their ship afloat despite the turbulent ebbs they have faced this season is a testament of the quality within their rank in file. They have now won three of their four matches under new coach Edin Terzic and there is certainly a new spring in their steps. Leipzig has a mounting injury list while Dortmund are almost getting back to full fitness. We give the black and yellows a slight edge here and we are backing them to win on the double chance @ 1.51 with Bet9ja.

We anticipate a relatively cagey start to the match that should then open up as time passes by. Most goals 2nd half has landed in two of Leipzig’s last three matches and in three of Dortmund’s last four matches and we are backing the same here @ 2.02 with Bet9ja bookie review.
