Real Madrid vs Chelsea, UCL 27.04.2021

An intriguing match is in the offing as Real Madrid and Chelsea gear up to face off in the first leg of their Champions League semi-final showdown at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday night.

Real Madrid will be looking to continue their dominance in this competition against a well-oiled Chelsea side.

We expect a tough first leg and we’ll focus on Paripesa Welcome Bonus prices for our betting tips here.

Despite being hit issued with the threat of expulsion from the Champions League due to their starring role in the widely unpopular European Super League, Real Madrid will proceed with this semifinal as they target their record-extending 14th Champions League crown.

Los Blancos were lackluster in the group stages but picked up the slack in the knockout rounds, dismissing both Atalanta and Liverpool with relative ease in the last two rounds, to book their spot in the final four.

The hosts come into this match on the back of a disappointing goalless draw against Betis which denied them a chance to go level on points with Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga log. Against Chelsea, they cannot afford any profligacy and will need to make the most of any opportunities.

Timo Werner’s ended his seven-game EPL goal-drought with a clinical first-half strike that not only earned Chelsea all three points on offer in Saturday’s London derby against West Ham but even more critically created separation between them and West Ham in the race for top four.

German tactician Thomas Tuchel has turned around Chelsea’s fortunes in his brief spell. Not only is he almost certain to finish top four, but he also has an FA Cup final to prepare for. If he can deliver this Champions League or even make the finals, he would certainly have a flowery chapter reserved for him in the Chelsea folklore.

His predecessor, Frank Lampard, did an excellent job in the group stages but he went one better to mastermind wins over Atletico and Porto in the knockout rounds and will be a formidable opponent in this semifinal.

This is shaping out to be one of those tactical matches. Like a game of chess between two grandmasters, all it might take is for one wrong move to unravel everything. Both teams have proven their defensive mettle in recent weeks. Disappointing as Real’s goalless draw at Betis may have been, it still counted as the fourth successive clean sheet for their rearguard. Not to be left behind, Chelsea have also been a tough nut to crack since Tuchel’s arrival. The 1-0 weekend victory was their third straight shutout. We are therefore anticipating a very tight start to the match although things may open up as it progresses. For the first of our betting predictions today, we are therefore picking the first goal of the match to be scored in the 31st minute or after @ 2.10.

Champions League semifinal betting tip Real vs Chelsea

Real Madrid are currently riding on a 17-game unbeaten run and had won five in a row in their backyard prior to the draw against Betis. Although Chelsea have a young and exciting team that is certainly capable of causing an upset, we feel Los Merengues may just have too much nous for them at this moment in time. Real’s midfield trio of Modric, Kroos and Casemiro have the experience to control proceedings, while Karim Benzema is a man for the big occasion. We are therefore backing Real Madrid to not lose and the goal total to be Under 3.5 @ 1.69 as our final call.
