Real Madrid welcome Inter Milan to the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium on Tuesday night in a UEFA Champions League Group B tie with both teams angling for their first win in the group matches.
Real Madrid have surprisingly only picked up one point from their two matches against Shakhtar Donetsk and Borussia Monchengladbach to sit bottom of the group.
They will fancy their chances however coming into this match. They’ve shown their potential in La Liga, with back-to-back wins over Barcelona in the El Classico and a 4-1 thumping of Huesca at the weekend, which took them to the top of the table with 16 points from seven matches.
Zidane will also be pleased to have Eden Hazard back from injury with the Belgian star scoring on his return to the lineup for the first time this season against Huesca from a long injury layoff.
Like Real, Inter Milan, too, have had a slow start to the Champions League so far, playing out to back-to-back draws in their opening two matches.
They are not doing that well in the Serie A either, with just three wins in their opening six games. They needed another late goal at the weekend to salvage 2-2 draw with Parma in Serie A on Saturday, which has left them in the fifth position in the table.
Antonio Conte would certainly have expected a lot more from his team who not only finished second in the Serie A in his first stint but also went all the way to the finals of the Europa League where they lost to Sevilla. With Lukaku likely to miss this clash, he has little room for error.
The Champions League has almost been synonymous with Real Madrid, particularly for the better part of this decade. They are the most successful team in the history of the competition with 13 trophies. Their start to this season’s competition has been an utter shock to most football fans and pundits. In light of the dynamics of the group at this stage, they absolutely cannot afford another loss. They always seem to reserve their best football for this competition and with the return of some of their key players for this match, there is no doubt they have the edge. We are backing them to get their campaign back on track with a win here @ 1.85 with Bwin as our first betting tip for the game.
With both teams really needing a win here, we expect an all-out attacking fest. Even though Lukaku is unlikely to feature, Inter still have a potent goal-scoring threat from the likes of Lauro Martinez and Sanchez. Neither teams’ defence has been particularly sterling to begin the season. We expect there will be plenty of goal scoring opportunities for either team and with the quality of their attacking players, they should be able to make them count. We are therefore going with Both Teams to Score @ 1.53 with Bwin bookie review as our final tip for this tie.
