RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne is the yet again the venue for the final of European clubs’ second-tier competition as Sevilla and Inter Milan face off in the Europe League final.
This will be Sevilla’s 6th final in this competition enhancing their reputation as the most successful side in the competition, having won all five of their previous trips to the final.
They come into this final in great form. They are unbeaten in their last 21 competitive games. They put up a great defensive shift and showed great mental fortitude against Man United in the semifinals to earn a 2-1 comeback win.
Former Spain manager Julen Lopetegui has done well to put together a team that plays very solid defence and very clinical in attack when opportunities come their way.
Inter come into this final as slight favourites following their 5-0 thrashing of Shakhtar Donetsk in the semifinals with their strike partners Lautaro Martinez and Romelu Lukaku both hitting doubles in a game they dominated from the get-go.
Like their opponents they too have some European football credentials having won this trophy three times. Their last success in Europe, however, came when they won the treble with Mourinho back in 2010. Following the great strides they’ve made with Conte at the helm, a win here will certainly be the icing on their cake.
This is a tough one to call for either side. Both of these teams are on incredible runs. But something has to give. Inter under Antonio Conte have had a revival in their fortunes this season. They were neck and neck with Juventus in the Serie A title chase before fading off towards the end. They still finished second. They have won their last six matches in all competitions, and all five of their Europa League matches since dropping from the Champions League. Even though Sevilla are to be respected given their record in this competition, their display in the semi-finals against Manchester United showed they have some chinks in their armor. If there is any team that exploit those, it has to be this Inter team. Their forwards are firing from all cylinders and they have a great balance and depth on their team should it go the full distance (extra time). We are therefore picking them to win the trophy @ 1.58 with 22Bet as our initial betting tip here.
Both teams have shown they possess enough firepower within their rank and file. Sevilla have scored 20 goals in 11 matches in the Europa League, Inter have scored 13 in five Europa League matches, including five in the semi-final against Shakhtar. Finals are usually tight affairs but with the form and the play of both of these teams in recent matches, we have every reason to believe that they will both create enough decent chances from which they should be able to convert. We are therefore going for both teams to score @ 1.83 with 22Bet as our final pick for this encounter. For Information about the bookmaker 22bet click here.
