NairaBet is the first-ever sports betting company licensed and headquartered in Nigeria. The bookmaker was founded in 2009 and is licensed by the Lagos State Lotteries Board. To date, NairaBet continues to enjoy its first-mover advantage, and is easily still one of the top betting platforms, despite the growing competition from new entrants.

In 2016, NairaBet made about N115 million according to a report by KPMG. The bookie enjoys over 4.3 million visits although there is evidence of a decline. This bookie review examines NairaBet and provides the important details that you should know as a punter.

In this review, we explain the bookie’s registration process, payment options and available betting options. Additionally, we review the user experience on the website, especially for newbies, as well as the overall punters' feelings on the bookmaker. This article will also briefly review the NairaBet bonus and provide you with relevant information. We delve further into bonuses in a separate article; you should check that out too.

To register on NairaBet, click the Register button at the top right-hand corner of the screen. You will be greeted with a one-page registration interface where you can enter your login details and some personal information, such as your email, nationality, and preferred currency, which defaults to the Naira. If you have a promotion code, make sure you toggle the option on to enter the code in the appropriate space.

After filling the requested data, click on the “Create” button at the bottom of the registration page but make sure you have ticked the age, terms and conditions, and privacy policy checklist before proceeding. You can start using our betting tips and sure straight wins for tomorrow to place bets from here on. Interestingly, NairaBet didn't offer any NairaBet bonus for first deposits made by new users for a while. Fortunately that changed and a NairaBet bonus is available again.

How do I withdraw money from my Nairabet account?

Nairabet customers can get their Winnings via Bank transfer only. This means that you need to have a valid Bank account to be able to withdraw your winnings. This is is not surprising, as most betting sites in Nigeria only support withdrawal into customer’s Bank account.

Is Nairabet a well usable bookie?

NairaBet has recently rebranded, which was followed by an overhaul of its sports betting website. To prepare this bookie review, we put the new website to test. The website has gone from the green, lemon, grey and white aesthetics to a more transparent look of white, dark grey, blue and a sprinkle of orange. What stands out is the use of white, which makes every other thing clear and prominent on the website.

The layout of the new website is equally impressive. At the top of the screen is the top menu just next to the NairaBet logo. The top of the screen also provides a quick link to the user’s bets, as well as the current balance. Users can also click on the avatar to access the account menu. We were happy to see that, when we clicked on a link in the top menu, the response was delivered in the middle of the webpage.

The body of the website is segmented into three parts: the middle that provides the information you request, the left-hand side pane that provides the betting markets currently available and the right-hand side pane that features your betslip, filter tool and the bet code function. The left-hand side also contains the search function so we decided to put the tool to the test; unfortunately, we found the tool lacking in some respects.

We found that the search tool limits the results to events happening over the next few days and then tournament-related results. Most bookies with a functioning search tool typically provide results that span 30 days or more. For example, when we search for the term ‘Arsenal’, the results were, chiefly, Premier League outright results such as top 4, top London club and who gets the higher between Arsenal and Tottenham. There was nothing in relation to Arsenal’s upcoming matches, even though the team has a match on the 23rd of November.

Overall, we found the user experience on the NairaBet website superb. It's efficient, loads rapidly, is pleasing to the eye, the navigation is intuitive and the search tool works relatively well.

How good is the Nairabet sportsbook?

The NairaBet sportsbook provides punters with betting options across more than 20 sports, including motorsports, futsal, cricket, rugby, football, squash, water polo and others. While it is immediately obvious that football is its primary market, the coverage for other sports is impressive. For example, the basketball betting option covers leagues in Bulgaria, Israel, Greece, Iceland and other countries, including international basketball fixtures.

In terms of its football coverage, Nairabet supports a host of countries and leagues. The number of leagues and countries may vary depending on the date and time. The betting margin on offer is also at par with what’s obtainable on other betting sites. For example, the betting margin for the 1X2 market in the English Premier League hovers between 102.5% and 103.5%, while other league’s profit margins may be as high as 106.5%.

Apart from the popular 1X2 and goals market, NairaBet offers other markets for users to bet on. These include halftime/fulltime, corners, Asian handicaps, regular handicaps, winning margins and other interesting picks. The minimum stake on the bookmaker is NGN50. Overall, the market offered by Nairabet coupled with the available odds makes it a viable option for punters. You can leverage our sports betting tips page for weekly tips and betting strategies.
