SOUTH KOREA
South Korea kicked off their Group H campaign with a goalless stalemate against Uruguay before playing in a rollercoaster of a match against Ghana which they ultimately lost 3-2. They had battled from 2-0 down to level the scores but Ghana’s Mohammed Kudu’s second goal of the match decided the interesting tie in Ghana’s favor and sunk South Korea’s hopes.
All is not lost though. They are third in the group with a single point. The permutations for them to qualify are kinda tough though. They need to beat the already-qualified Portugal and hope for Uruguay to overcome Ghana in the corresponding group fixture and then goal difference would be the determinant. Long shot yes, but stranger things have happened in this world cup.
The Asian Tigers last reached the knockout round in 2010 and have failed to do that in the last two editions. They will be hoping to end the drought here.
PORTUGAL
Despite having already qualified for the round of 16, Portugal still require a draw to guarantee the top spot in the group so they still have something to play for here. They beat Ghana 3-2 in their opener and went on to seal qualification with a 2-0 win over Uruguay with Bruno Fernandes grabbing a brace.
They top the group with 6 points, three ahead of second-placed Ghana and will be looking to go past the round of 16 for the first time since 2006, having seen their last three World Cups ending at that very stage.
A Selecao were not strong favorites to win it all coming into this World Cup but their performance to start the tournament has seen them touted as strong challengers to lift the trophy. They will look to cement this status with a strong finish here.

SOUTH KOREA VS PORTUGAL PREDICTIONS
This is likely to be a tough battle. South Korea will be gunning for a win and will give nothing short of 100% effort. We expect a particularly closely contested opening half with neither team willing to cede ground to the other. As a result we fancy them to even out to a first half stalemate @ 2.10 with Mozzartbet for the first of our betting predictions today.
Even though South Korea soaked in 3 goals against Ghana last time out, that seemed to be a misnomer rather than the rule. They have generally been quite solid defensively all through the qualifiers and into the opening match of the World Cup. We expect them to return to default settings and that means the game is likely to have a few goals either way. Bet9ja app have Portugal scoring fewer than 2 goals priced at 1.65 and we feel there is value in going with this for our last call for this game. They are likely to ease their foot off the pedal now that they are already through so we do not foresee them going all out here.
