Liverpool vs Real Madrid, UEFA Champions League, 14.04.2021

Former Champions, Liverpool, face an uphill battle to overturn a two-goal deficit in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie against Real Madrid on Wednesday.

Can the Reds turn on the heat against Zinedine Zidane’s men? Our betting prediction will explore the profitable angles.

LIVERPOOL

Liverpool have endured a torrid Premier League campaign and a title defence to forget. The Reds have also had it tough in other domestic competitions, leaving the Champions League their only hope of getting their hands on a piece of silverware this season.

This prospect, however, is threatened by Real Madrid who holds the aces coming into the second leg following a convincing 3-1 win in the first leg. But the host cannot be written off just yet. Liverpool knows one or two things about comebacks and their historic performance against Barcelona at Anfield to overturn a 3-0 first-leg deficit.

Although the situation is different now. Anfield is no longer the fortress it was in previous campaigns. They have struggled in recent times at home failing to win in six league games at home before halting that poor run of form with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa at the weekend.

While the English champions may have struggled to win games at home in the league, they have won three games in their last 4 Champions league fixtures at home, without conceding a goal in all three wins.

Jurgen Klopp’s charges will not go down without a fight at Anfield but overhauling Real Madrid May just be a target too far.

REAL MADRID

This game could not have come at a better time for Real Madrid. Zinedine Zidane and his men will be beaming with confidence after earning a 2-1 over their eternal rivals, Barcelona in the El Classico to reassert themselves as one of the favourites for the La Liga title.

Real Madrid are right where they want to be. They are currently on a 13 game unbeaten which includes six consecutive victories. They have also won five of their last six away games in all competitions.

This certainly makes for good reading for the Los Blancos. However, they do have something to worry about. The first choice centre-back pair of Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos will be missing for the visitors. Dani Carvajal is doubtful for this clash and Lucas Vazquez was forced off after injuring his Anterior Cruciate Ligament in the El Classico.

Certainly Real will be light at the back and that is a cue for Liverpool to have a go at the Spanish side, but the visitors do possess the qualities to hurt their opponents at the other end.

Both sides are capable of scoring goals and they were both involved in games that produced the goods at the weekend. To this end, Both teams to score will be worth a punt and it reasonably priced at 1.52 by Betboro.

Another betting angle to consider is the Total team goals. Liverpool needs to get two goals at least to progress to the next round and we reckon Liverpool can breach the weakened Madrid rearguard on two occasions so we are backing Liverpool to score over 1.5 goals at 1.73 again on Betboro.

We have done a thorough Betboro review and you can learn more about their offers which include the Betboro welcome bonus.
