Euro 2016 Qualifiers: Groups D, E & F

European football is a very competitive place and the European Championship qualifying groups bear a striking example of that. Over the years, it is seen that regional heavyweights which stamp their authority globally, struggled to stay afloat in European qualification. The picture to Euro 2016 qualification is no different. We have given our view on how groups A, B and C are shaping up in our last article. Here, we start examining the next set of groups D, E and F.

Group D is probably one of the most competitive groups in the entire qualification scene. Poland and Germany were the early favorites but the strong form of Scotland and Republic of Ireland has thrown the group wide open. As things stand, Poland heads the group with 10 points from 4 games while Germany, Scotland and Republic of Ireland have 7 points each. Poland showed great glimpse of their potential and look strong to continue their push. There is every chance that they end up topping the group, the odds are offered at nice 6,0 by William Hill. Republic of Ireland want to punch above their weight by qualifying and bet365 puts them at odds of 2,5. Scotland is running close and the odds offered by William Hill for qualification are 2,25. Don’t be surprised if the best third-placed team comes from this group.

Group E is one of the most lopsided groups. Perennial underachievers England are the runaway leaders at this point with a perfect 12 points from 4 matches. Slovenia, Switzerland and Lithuania are following with 6 points while Estonia is striving to be in reckoning with 4 points. William Hill offers attractive odds of 3,0 for Slovenia to qualify from the group. All they need to do is keep distance from Switzerland, which may not be to difficult. And if you believe Estonia will defy expectations and qualify, back them at odds of 10,0 offered by Unibet!

Group F has a similar pattern with three teams in Romania, Northern Ireland and Hungary trying to keep their expectations intact. Romania is currently top of the pile with 10 points and widely expected to make the grade. Northern Ireland is just 1 point behind and if they continue their plucky game till the end, they could surprise a few by topping the group; odds are offered at 7,5 by William Hill. Hungary is well placed to mount a challenge too, and the odds for their qualification offered by Unibet are 1,6. A slightly more adventurous pick would be putting money on Finland qualification – odds of 2,35 offered by Unibet.

Though the time between matches is a bone of contention for the teams to maintain authority, nothing beats the passion of qualifying for Euro.
